Until AI can solve human problems, it’s not ASI

We are making phenomenal progress with AI, but the people creating it seem to have huge blind spots in how they are defining AGI/ASI. The newest models are indeed very good at solving math & physics problems and are reaching super-intelligence in these domains. But to define this as general ASI is ludicrous.

The biggest problems humans have are not math & physics problems, they are human problems: war, genocide, poverty, child abuse, domestic violence, drug dependency, corruption, and all manner of inequality.

These are the real problems we need an advanced intelligence to solve, because we obviously can’t solve them ourselves.
